About Jenny and Di’s Ottawa Backyard Wedding

Jenny and Di were married during post-graduate studies and Covid with only a very small ceremony.    They waited 5 years to properly gather and celebrate with their closest friends and family.  Di’s family property with its waterfront view and expansive grounds was the obvious choice for location for their Ottawa backyard wedding.

Getting Ready / Accommodations

Jenny and Di got ready in the family home, with Di in one end of the house and Jenny in the other.  It was both convenient and exciting keeping Jenny and Di from seeing each other until their “first looks”.  A definite perk of  a backyard wedding.

Ceremony Space for Jenny and Di’s Ottawa Backyard Wedding

Jenny and Di, with the help of their families, carved out a unique, secluded space on the property for their ceremony site.  They laid woodchips as the designated pathway to their ceremony aisle and archway.  The surrounding woods gave them all the privacy they needed.  They walked themselves down the aisle, smiling joyously at all their friends and family.  Even though they were already married, Jenny and Di’s ceremony was emotional and truly heartfelt – proof that genuine love only strengthens as the years go by.

The Grounds / Surrounding Areas / Photographic Opportunities

Jenny and Di didn’t have to leave the property for photos during their Ottawa backyard wedding.  We spent most of our time on the dock – a favourite family spot.  Jenny and Di privately enjoyed the peace and cool breeze coming off the water.  Next, we dipped quickly into the wild fields surrounding the property for a bit of variety.

Reception

Despite a magical ceremony, Jenny and Di’s tented reception truly was the piece de resistance for their Ottawa backyard wedding.  The setup and décor were on point, the food delicious.  Who says a backyard wedding can’t be elegant?   Moreover, Jenny and Di absolutely astounded their guests with a perfectly choreographed first dance that had everyone cheering and clapping.  They definitely set the tone for a happy dance party.  We finished the day off with Golden Hour photos in the back fields in the rows of lavender and roses.

Ottawa Backyard Weddings

An Ottawa backyard wedding is not for everyone – and definitely not for the faint of heart.  There is A LOT of hard work and planning that goes into creating a wedding venue on a home property that you and your guests can enjoy.  Thankfully, Jenny and Di solicited the services of Parvati and Athena Events.  They transformed the family property into a gorgeous Ottawa backyard wedding.  Kayla was absolutely amazing at coordinating every detail so that things went off without a hitch.

Jenny and Di’s wedding celebration was 5 years in the making and so worth the wait!
